Las Vegas City Council Approves Lennar Homes Residential Redevelopment of Cashman Field Site

Las Vegas City Council approved a zoning change at the 50-acre Cashman Field site, advancing Lennar Homes’ plan for high-density housing. The move clears the way for nearly 1,100 residential units and signals a long-term transition away from stadium use.

Las Vegas officials have approved a land use change that advances redevelopment of the Cashman Field site into a large residential project. The City Council action reclassified the publicly designated property to allow high-density housing, enabling Lennar Homes to move forward with plans for hundreds of residential units on the former sports complex and nearby state-owned land.

The site has cycled through multiple redevelopment concepts over the past decade, reflecting shifting priorities for downtown land use. The current plan establishes a defined development window, signaling increased certainty compared to prior proposals. Housing demand, proximity to Las Vegas Boulevard, and redevelopment pressure on underutilized public assets continue to shape policy decisions in the urban core.

Cashman Field currently hosts professional soccer but is no longer positioned as a long-term stadium location. The approval indicates a broader transition away from legacy sports infrastructure toward residential density in central Las Vegas.
