Oak Ridge North Advances Talks with D.R. Horton on 160 Home Development at Elder and Robinson

Oak Ridge North is moving forward with D.R. Horton after a proposal for 160 homes on 40 by 110 foot lots, with planned road and sidewalk improvements, received favorable community feedback.

The Oak Ridge North City Council instructed municipal staff to begin working with D.R. Horton after a presentation by the homebuilder during the council’s November 17 meeting. The update was previously reported by Community Impact.

Iyeka Bankston, project manager for D.R. Horton, outlined a proposal for a residential development located at Elder Road and Robinson Road. The planned layout features 40 by 110 foot lots, which would accommodate approximately 160 single family homes. Bankston stated that the projected price point of about 419 thousand dollars was selected to remain competitive with surrounding markets, particularly The Woodlands, where home prices are generally higher.

During the presentation, Bankston noted that the company had received supportive feedback from Oak Ridge North residents regarding the concept. The proposal includes several infrastructure components intended to accompany the residential construction. These include new sidewalks, improvements to the right of way along Robinson Road, and the widening of Elder Road to meet Montgomery County standards. The improvements would be incorporated into the development plan as the project advances.

City Council’s direction allows staff to begin working with the builder on next steps related to the potential project, which may include additional review, refinement of infrastructure commitments, and discussions regarding regulatory requirements. The development would represent one of the larger recent residential proposals within Oak Ridge North, depending on the progress and approval process that follows.
